INFRARED SAUNA

The sun produces a combination of visible and invisible light, and one of that invisible spectrum is infrared rays. Invisible infrared wavelengths are what makes the sun feel warm (and ultraviolet wavelengths are what makes it bright). Scientists have established that infrared waves are beneficial to the human body because they are easily absorbed, stimulating the lymphatic, immune and cardiovascular systems and also help remove toxins. Infrared does all of this without any of the harmful rays of sunlight.

*Infrared heaters emit infrared light experienced as radiant heat, which is absorbed by the surface of the skin. Saunas heat the body primarily by conduction and convection from the heated air and by radiation of the heated surfaces in the sauna room. Because of this, infrared therapy is not considered a sauna by traditional definition. In a far, mid and near infrared sauna 20% of heat is in the air, 80% absorbed into the core benefitting at the cellular level. Therefore the temperature reflected on the controller does not reflect the core temperatures reached. Average temperature on the controller can read between 125 – 150 degrees.

Our saunas provide full-spectrum infrared rays, for full-spectrum benefits such as:

WHY INFRARED?

In a traditional sauna, the body sweats in reaction to being in a hot environment – sweating is a superficial, topical, cooling reaction. In a far infrared sauna, the bio-identical infrared heat penetrates deep into the tissues, slightly raising the body’s core temperature, causing the body to sweat as it does during intense exercise. This sweat is coming from a deeper place and in turn, creates a deeper form of detoxification that is found in a traditional sauna. You will detox 7x more in an infrared sauna than a traditional! What’s more, infrared heat has the ability to increase blood circulation by penetrating deeper into the body’s joints, muscles and tissues allow more oxygen to reach injured areas of the body and reduces inflammation, helping to reduce pain associated with Lyme Disease and other joint or arthritic conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Detoxification has also been shown to be helpful with colitis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, auto-immune disease, immune deficiency states, autism, ADD and ADHD.” – Dr. Rachel West. Detoxification has a large impact on many other symptoms from disease as well as your body’s ability to process properly. For example, toxins that can make fat loss difficult due to obesogens.

Feeling run down and the start of a cold or bug? The Infrared radiant heat will stimulate circulation, and strengthen your immune system. This will help eliminate germs and keep sickness away.

Clinical studies have shown that infrared saunas help prevent heart disease by lowering blood pressure, increasing circulation, reducing inflammation, decreasing belly fat and regulating your whole system to support a healthy heart.

Dr. Jari Laukkanen who found in a pretty large trial of over 2,000 participants that men that used the sauna 2-3 times per week had a 27% lower cardiovascular disease risk, 24% lower all-cause mortality, and a 20% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease compared to men that only used the sauna one time per week. Men that used the sauna 4-7 times per week had an even larger impact: 50% lower cardiovascular disease risk, 40% lower all-cause mortality, and a 66% lower risk of dementia and a 65% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease compared to men that used the sauna once a week. “…benefits of heat shock proteins including the prevention of protein aggregates in the brain that lead to Alzheimer’s disease, the growth of new neurons, preservation of muscle mass and more. Heat shock proteins have been shown to be increased by ~50% after 30 minutes in a 163 F (73 C) sauna in healthy young men and women.” – Dr Rhonda Patrick

An Infrared Sauna session stimulates our feel-good neurotransmitters. Sweat induced from an infrared heat source is comprised of 20% toxins whereas sweat induced from traditional heating systems is comprised of 3% toxins. This is why it’s accurate to say infrared is 7x more detoxifying than traditional heat. Sitting in a sauna creates heat stress, which causes the body to increase its production of heat shock proteins, which help repair damaged proteins and protect DNA. This boost in serotonin also relieves symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Infrared rays and chromotherapy can alleviate the “Winter Blues.” Feel good this winter with regular use of our sauna cabins. The sauna heat is like a cozy hug that will boost your good hormones and help turn that winter frown upside down.
Infrared helps to heal the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin as well as helps to stimulate collagen production which reduces wrinkles and improves overall skin tone. The Near Infrared heat promotes faster cell regeneration and human tissue growth which helps to repair wounds and prevent infection. Because the sweat carries toxins out of the body instead of via dead skin cells, it also is an effective solution to Psoriasis and Eczema. The increased circulation, elimination of toxins and flushing out of cellular debris enhances overall skin health, giving it a more radiant appearance. You will leave absolutely GLOWING!
Chromotherapy, or color therapy. It is the science of using colors to adjust body vibrations to frequencies that result in health and harmony. Light therapy is also a growing treatment for anti-aging and anti-acne. Included in our Infrared Sauna’s, light therapy is a great way to revitalize, energize and stimulate the production of collagen for our skin cells.
One study demonstrated that a 30min session, 2xs a week for 3 weeks post workout, increased the time that it took for study participants to run until exhaustion by 32% compared to baseline.” Dr. Rhonda Patrick.

When used regularly, saunas are known to improve athlete endurance and tolerance levels for anaerobic exercises, as well as lead to greater physical performance in general. The heat emitted from an infrared sauna penetrates deep into the body and causes the heart rate to increase, which is a great way to work out your cardiovascular system without putting stress on a sore or injured body. According to the American Medical Association, “many of us who run do so to place a demand on our cardiovascular system, not to build big leg muscles. Regular use of indoor saunas may impact a similar stress on the cardiovascular system, and its regular use may be as effective, as a means of cardiovascular conditioning and burning of calories, as regular exercise.”

For athletes and those on fitness regimens, a sauna can be a supplemental method of burning calories (around 500 calories per sauna session! -Journal of American Medical Association report), a way of getting rid of fat cells and a means of boosting the metabolism. Saunas should not be used as a replacement for a traditional cardio workout, but make a great follow up to a workout as well as a way to stay fit while injuries prevent athletic mobility.

The actual amount of calories burned off in the sauna can be measured by measuring transpiration. Every gram of transpiration uses 0.586 Cal -Guyton’s Textbook of Medical Physiology. The average person will sweat off half a liter during a session in an infrared sauna. That is equivalent to 1,000 grams, or over 500 calories.

The relaxing effect that deep penetrating infrared heat has on tired, sore or damaged athlete muscles is manifold. The blood vessel dilation and increased circulation brought on by the heat will help tired muscles repair and strengthen themselves more efficiently. Also, the loosening of the muscles, reduction in lactic acids and decreased swelling that are induced by the heat will ease the pain of tight or worn muscles.

FIR sauna’s provide the ideal way for an athlete to have a thorough warm-up to increase flexibility and prevent unnecessary injury. When tissues are warmed to 112 degrees Fahrenheit and then stretched, they retain roughly 0.5-0.9% of their length indefinitely. Thus 20 stretching sessions can result in a 10-18% increase in the length of tissues that are stretched in conjunction with infrared heat. (Justus Lehmann M.D., Williams and Wilkins, Therapeutic Heat and Cold.)

The heat from the infrared rays is able to go deep into the joints of an ailing athlete. As the heat relaxes the muscles around the joint, less strain and pressure is placed on the region. This helps improve their ability to repair and heal.

  • Obesogens are foreign chemical compounds that can lead to obesity by disrupting your body’s normal development.
  • Obesogens will keep you from seeing the true results of your hard work with dieting and training. Give these toxins the boot and finally get into those skinny jeans hanging in your closet
  • Increasing the number and/or size of fat cells
  • Affecting the body’s regulation of hunger and fullness
  • Changing metabolism by storing calories as fat

Tried the infrared sauna & I’m totally hooked. The sweat helped relax my body and muscles but I also left feeling way more energized.
